EAST KLANG VALLEY EXPRESSWAY (EKVE) – EASTERN ROUTE
DESCRIPTION
The East Klang Valley Expressway (EKVE) forms part of the Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road (KLORR) network in the east. The expressway traverses northwards from Kajang SILK Highway passing through the outskirts of Bandar Mahkota Cheras in Kajang and ends at Middle Ring Road 2 via Jalan Ukay Perdana in Ampang.
EKVE spans approximately 39 km (24km mainline and 15 km spur roads) and is a dual carriageway, two (2) lanes in each direction and expandable to three (3) lanes. A closed toll system and designed to accommodate five (5) toll plazas at each of the planned five interchanges along the entire expressway. The five interchanges are:
- Sungai Long Interchange
- Bandar Mahkota Cheras Interchange
- Hulu Langat Interchange
- Ampang Interchange
- Ukay Perdana Interchange
SMHB was appointed as support consultant for engineering design works for parts of Package 1 and Package 2 of the project. It involves design of 16 nos. of Bridges; specifically Ampang Interchange including Ampang Spur Road, and Ukay Perdana Interchange.
