WASTE MANAGEMENT

SMHB’s services cover all forms of waste management, including municipal and industrial wastewater as well as solid waste. We have in-house expertise to assess waste treatment options and recommend the most appropriate solutions, and we have the engineering skills to design and implement the best system to meet the needs of our clients.

Our capabilities include the development of master plans for the proper management of municipal wastewaters and solid waste. We also conduct waste characterisation studies in order to find the optimum solution for the treatment of wastes. Our comprehensive studies and designs encompass: sewerage reticulation systems; wastewater treatment for municipal, industrial and landfill leachate; solid waste collection/transfer and treatment; and final disposal.

Our projects cover schemes of varying sizes and capacities, serving populations from less than 1,000 to about one million. In all our projects, we take cognizance of environmental and legislative requirements, providing opportunities for waste minimisation, recovery and re-use, wherever feasible.
